Water levels at the reserve are currently “extremely high” due to heavy rain brought by Storm Henk.

The site is currently inaccessible by car as a result of the flooding.

In a statement, the reserve said: “We are also strongly advising against trying to access the reserve by foot as most paths are flooded and dangerous.

“Water levels are expected to continue rising around the area, with flood warnings remaining in place.

“Stay safe and thank you for your understanding.”

The reserve attracts around 500,000 visitors each year and is home to around 250 bird species.
