East Midlands Railway is reminding customers to review their travel plans ahead of major timetable changes coming into effect on December 14.
The new timetable brings a series of improvements across the East Midlands.
Regional services set for major boost
With two weeks to go, EMR is urging passengers to check their journey and understand how their trip might be affected. The new timetable will provide a significant lift to regional services and the wider economy.
Key additions include two direct services per hour between Derby and Lincoln during the week and on Saturdays, more frequent Sunday services on the Matlock to Derby to Nottingham route, increased services for Hykeham, Burton Joyce, Radcliffe, Attenborough and Spondon, and a new direct route from Matlock to Cleethorpes along with other updates across the network.
It delivers wider economic benefits worth £2.4 million a year and supports long-term regional growth. It also strengthens the financial position of the railway, helping Transport UK and EMR maintain sustainability while improving the customer experience.
The timetable introduces several key benefits:
• More than 2000 extra seats on EMR services to and from Lincoln on weekdays and more than 3000 extra seats on Saturdays • New direct journey opportunities including Matlock to Cleethorpes and Crewe to Lincoln • Improved local calling patterns with more trains at Hykeham, Burton Joyce, Radcliffe, Attenborough and Spondon
