Forest fans have become used to Cooper’s post-win fist pump.

After their first win in eleven Premier League games, Forest came from behind to defeat European football-chasing Brighton and Hove Albion.

At the full time whistle, the eruption of relief and joy from the City Ground faithful was electric.

As has become custom since Steve Cooper’s arrival last season, Depeche Mode’s ‘I just can’t get enough’ is blasted over the tannoy after a win, swiftly followed by three victorious fist pumps in front of the Forest fans applauding in the stand.

Tonight though, this was not the case.

When asked about this in his post match press conference, Steve Cooper’s response shows everything Forest fans need to know about his own and his sides mentality going into the final five games:

“I’m over the moon, you know, I’m so pleased for the supporters and so pleased for the players, but we havent won for months.

“I dont think you can win a game and celebrate too much.

“I’m honestly walking off the pitch thinking ‘right let’s get ready for Brentford’ and thank you to the supporters - amazing - but we’ve got a lot of work to do and I want everyone in tomorrow working even harder than they were today and yesterday and that has to be the mentality.”

Although fans were expecting the famous fist pump and willing Cooper on to do this, they will be impressed with his comments.

While they have taken a huge three points against on of this season’s most impressive sides, there is a lot of football still to play.

Steve Cooper is very much focussed on building on this performance and is confident his side can take something away from Brentford.
