Nottingham Forest fans have been reacting to Friday night’s home defeat to Newcastle United at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest were left reeling after a 92nd-minute winner from Alexander Isak saw Newcastle United end the Reds’ nine-game unbeaten run at the City Ground in the Premier League.

Newcastle dominated in the opening exchanges and almost went ahead after a deflection off Renan Lodi hit the crossbar, but Forest grew into the game and managed to push Newcastle back later in the first half.

Emmanuel Dennis arguably had his best game in a Forest shirt and sent the City Ground into a frenzy after a brilliant dink over Nick Pope.

The goal came after some dogged pressing from Andre Ayew caused Sven Botman to misplace his pass back to his goalkeeper.

Unfortunately though, late goals at the end of both halves put Newcastle within one point of fourth-placed Tottenham in what Eddie Howe says could be a season-defining victory.

Having struggled to create chances going forward, particularly in the second half, here’s what the fans had to say about tonight’s bitterly-disappointing loss.

@RayRun9: They worked hard tonight, stupid handball cost us a point #nffc Tough against Newcastle, they’re a top side. Can't keep giving penalties away every week, so frustrating. Battled hard, ref was awful yet again. How are these refs so bad?

@95Redss: And suddenly there’s no home form to rely on either. A huge wake-up call this evening that we are simply going to have to pick up a result or two away because home games aren’t enough on their own if want to survive #NFFC

@ghghghjjlgsj: The result aside, that was a much better performance from us. If we find that form in the remaining games we’ll finish 14th. #nffc

@CarlosNFFC: Giving away a pen like that in added time is absolutely frustrating but the reality is we were not good tonight for even for 1 point. It was against a team in the top 4 & man for man they are better than us with a better manager. But we were awful for 90% of the game again #NFFC

lez_s: If we can play like that when playing the lower teams and a fully fit team we'll be fine.

NoRow3419: A miracle is what we need now to stay up. Forget who's left & all the permutations . Playing like a team that's resigned to relegation.

Baileyuk81: I'm not worried. (Well a bit). But if we battle like that every game we will be okay. Newcastle are a good team.

ExtraHat9: We were well and truly beaten. Woodwork twice, 3 goals against, one goal from an error. Dropping points against those in the drop zone is way more frustrating for me personally.

@hastings_price: Wolves game now is a six pointer game we definitely need to win if we dont its gonna be a struggle to stay up #NFFC

@JonDav1es: Officiating in this #NFFC #NUFC match is right out of the #EFL scrapbook tbh...awful from the first min!
