Nottingham Forest player ratings vs Liverpool as one player scores 8/10 and another 6/10 in 3-2 defeat

Forest are still only a point from safety after today’s agonising loss against Liverpool.

Today’s loss at Anfield marks 11 games since Forest last won a Premier League fixture. It also demotes The Reds to second bottom in the league.

However, many fans will be pleased with aspects of the performance today, most notably having scored two goals away from home. Before today, Forest had only managed five goals all season away from the City Ground, so to notch two at Liverpool shows some progress.

Despite the spirited performance, Forest are left ruing some poor defensive organisation from set pieces. All three of Liverpool’s goals came from those situations, with two coming from freekicks.

Frustratingly, those freekicks were conceded within five minutes of both of Forest’s equalisers.

Neco Williams and Taiwo Awoniyi both put in lively and energetic performances against their former employers, and Morgan Gibbs-White scored a great goal, his first since Crystal Palace in December.

Although their league position is worse off, Forest are still only a point from safety, as this historic race for Premier League survival continues.

Below are today’s player ratings, from Nottingham World reporter Max Scott.
