Soundcore’s Space 2 headphones combine comfort, strong battery life and surprisingly capable ANC at a mid-range price

Soundcore's new Space 2s feel like a genuinely well-rounded pair of everyday headphones that get far closer to premium territory than they really have any right to at this price.

They’re lightweight without feeling too cheap, the earcups are nicely cushioned, and they fold away properly rather than awkwardly dangling around your neck.

The design is understated, which won't impress everyone, but in the right colour you could hardly call them unattractive.

Comfort is another solid feature. I’ve worn these Soundcore headphones on long stints and they never became irritating or heavy.

As for sound quality, it's surprisingly punchy. They're a fair way from reference-grade, but for normal people listening to Spotify, podcasts, films and YouTube, they’re excellent.

The bass is strong without becoming ridiculous, vocals stay clear, and they’ve got a lively, energetic sound that makes them fun to listen to.

The Soundcore app helps too. You can tweak the EQ in here, alter a few other settings, and there are loads of presets if you can’t be bothered fiddling manually.

In terms of noise cancelling, they’re not as good as Bose kit or high end Sony headphones – but they’re also nowhere near those prices. You can buy the Space 2s at the moment for around £129 – and that makes them genuinely competitive for mid-range headphones.

Because, for commuting, office work and travel, they do a genuinely impressive job of dulling background noise.

Air conditioning fades away nicely, train noise softens down, and they take enough edge off busy environments that music and podcasts become much easier to enjoy.

Battery life is another strong suit. Soundcore claims up to 55 hours and this feels believable. They charge quite quickly, too.

There are a few compromises, though. The plastic finish won’t fool anyone into thinking these are a £400 flagship set, and while the ANC is very good for the money, you do notice the difference if you’ve used top-tier headphones before. The transparency mode is decent rather than brilliant too.

But here’s the thing – most people aren’t cross-shopping £400 headphones. They just want something comfortable, good sounding and reliable that doesn’t financially ruin them.

And that’s exactly why the Soundcore Space 2 headphones are so easy to recommend. They nail the basics, outperform their price tag, and avoid the usual “cheap headphones” traps.

If you catch them on sale, they’re an absolute no-brainer.
