Nottingham weather: East Midlands Rail and East Midlands Airport issue travel warnings today


Nottingham weather remains unsettled today (Monday, January 6, 2025) following multiple weather warnings that saw the first snowfall in Nottinghamshire and the wider East Midlands.
The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in place till 10am today. People can expect heavy rain and thawing snow leading to some flooding in places.

Hide AdThe Met Office say 15-25 mm rain is set to fall in places. This, combined with some thaw of lying snow, may lead to some flooding and travel disruption in places. A short period of sleet and snow will affect some areas as the rain clears.

Travel providers are urging customers to take caution when making travel plans.
East Midlands Airport travel update
East Midlands Airport warned of potential disruption to the flight schedule. Posting on X at January 5, the post said: ‘Despite the snowfall overnight, our runway is operational thanks to the hard work of our teams in ensuring it remains clear.

East Midlands Railway EMR travel update
EMR posted on X today, also warning of ‘disruption across multiple routes due to heavy rain flooding the railway’.
EMR went on to add that ‘arrangements have been made for tickets to be accepted on alternative routes with other operators.’
