It follows a soggy weekend of erratic weather that saw thunderstorms and consistent rainfall on Saturday night and Sunday in Nottingham.

Today, heavy rain is expected to affect the East Midlands, here are all the places according to the Met Office that are set to be affected.

Weather warning for all East Midlands locations

  • Derby
  • Derbyshire
  • Leicester
  • Leicestershire
  • Lincolnshire
  • Northamptonshire
  • Nottingham
  • Nottinghamshire
  • Rutland

Not all counties within the warning area will be equally affected, but it seems likely that some areas will see 60-80 mm.

A few places may receive 120mm or more over the course of 12 to 24 hours.

Travel disruption and some flooding is therefore likely.

Some areas where the weather warning is in place may be cut off by flooded roads.

Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible, so it may be wise factoring in extra time for journeys.

There may be possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.
