We’re now just a couple of days away from March, and with that the start of meteorological spring.
While many of us will be hoping for warmer weather over the next few weeks, we all know that here in England it’s not quite that simple.

Hide AdDespite March officially being the first month of spring, the weather over those four weeks is always very temperamental.
In 2018, for instance, the start of March saw the infamous Beast from the East bring heavy snow to much of the UK.
Two years later, by contrast, temperatures during the middle of March touched 20C as the country was plunged into lockdown.
But what will the start of March bring to Nottingham in 2025?
Here’s what we know so far.

Hide AdUK-wide forecast according to the Met Office
March 3 to March 12 - “A split in weather conditions is likely across the UK during early March. Northwestern areas will see bouts of rain and stronger winds at times, as Atlantic weather systems arrive from the west.
“These spells of wet and windy weather will move southeast to some degree. However, high pressure is likely to have more influence across the south of the UK, at least at first.
“Here, there should be a good deal of fine/dry weather during early March with a chance of night frosts and morning fog patches. Through this period, there is an increasing chance of unsettled conditions becoming more widely dominant across the UK.
“Temperatures generally around or a bit above average, notwithstanding some chilly nights”

The current forecast by WX Charts, which provides forecast models for Europe and North America, does not predict any snow for Nottingham up to Saturday, March 15.
The model forecasts some wet weather for the city during early to mid-March, but at the moment any talk of snow appears to be wide of the mark.
