Northern Lights illuminate Nottinghamshire skies in dazzling photos

The Northern Lights have made a rare appearance over Nottinghamshire, illuminating the county's skies in a stunning display.

Astonishing photographs captured by locals showcase the vibrant colours and patterns of this natural phenomenon.

The Met Office said the lights, also known as aurora borealis, might be seen only as far south as the Midlands.

The phenomenon is not always visible with the naked eye.

Many people living in Notts and the surrounding areas managed to catch a glimpse of the phenomenon from their back gardens.
