A technical blunder led to BBC Weather's alarming forecast of hurricanes and 14,000mph winds across UK cities, causing widespread confusion.

Other cities, including Nottingham, were also been impacted by the glitch.

The BBC has confirmed the issue is the result of a technical glitch. To add to hurricane error, some areas reported a 0% chance of rain despite the high winds.

Lead BBC meteorologist Simon King addressed the error, assuring followers there was no cause for alarm.

Presenter Matt Taylor said in a post on X: "Don't be alarmed folks - Hurricane Milton hasn't made it to us here in the UK! There's been a data glitch between our suppliers and the app/online. Folk are working to solve the issue."
