Here we take a look at the top rated mechanics and garages in Nottingham according to Google ratings and reviews.

The list features places with a rating of 4.5 or more.

Ilkeston Garage

Ilkeston Garage has 4.8 stars on Google, which comes from 19 five-star reviews and sadly, one one-star review.

One happy customer wrote that Ilkeston Garage will now be there “go to” following their great service.

The reviewer wrote: “Great service and pleasant chap. My car had been standing since the start of COVID lockdown and was completely dead. Came out to start it and did repairs and MOT overnight. Everything A ok. Will be my go to garage for the family’s cars from now on.”

Ilkeston Garage offers repairs and MOT services, with an air conditioning regas and recharge costing £54.95.

DNA Autocare

DNA Autocare also has 4.8 stars on Google, after hundreds of happy customers left five star reviews. Out of 193 reviews, only nine customers rated the auto repair shop less than a four.

Earlier this year, one user personally thanked “Zak and the team” after they welded one of their seat levers back into place.

The reviewer wrote: “The seat lever under my drivers side chair had snapped off. I gave these guys a call to ask for some advice. They offered to weld it back into place for a decent price. The car was in and out within the same day of calling. Repaired to a high standard and I’m super pleased with the service I received. I would recommend them every time. Thanks Zak and the team.”

DNA Autocare offers repairs, MOT testing and engine remapping. All their work comes with a 12-month warranty.

The company have proudly shared their Certificate of Excellence on their website, after being awarded as one of the top three car garages in Nottingham.

Greenwood Auto Services Ltd

Greenwood Auto Services Ltd is the third Nottingham based garage to be given 4.8 stars on Google Reviews. It has had just two unhappy customers, out of the 52 that left them a review.

Last month, one happy customer described the car garage as “honest and reliable”.

Jack Kelsey wrote: “Great honest and reliable garage. Had a problem with my Astra diesel which I’d done a lot of research about online - found it was likely to be a common fault with a worn oil suction pipe seal. Cheap part but can be a very expensive repair.

“ Took it to several garages, they recommended things like changing oil filter, oil pressure switch and when I told them what I’d read online they did not acknowledge that could be the problem. When I took it to Greenwood to have a new oil pressure switch and described the symptoms they said it is more likely the seal and described exactly what I’d read on forums.

They were right and the problem is now fixed.

“First place to acknowledge the actual problem and on top of that they were very honest about possible labour costs. System quoted them a certain number of hours which a lot of garages would’ve just charged for but instead they gave me that as a worst-case quote and said they would hope to be able to do the job quicker than that. Super transparent from the start and they did manage to do it quicker than quoted which saved me around a third from their worst-case quote. Just decent honest guys who know what they’re doing. Will be going back here for servicing & MOT”.

Greenwood Auto Services Ltd are an accredited VOSA MOT centre, and their website states that they pride themselves on timely and cost-effective repairs if your vehicle fails its MOT.

They also offer servicing, with prices for a full service starting at £85 and prices for an engine service starting at £55.

KAM Servicing

KAM Servicing has 4.6 stars on Google, from a whopping 262 customer reviews. Less than 10% of their online reviews were worth less than four stars.

Last month, one Google reviews user praised the North Sherwood Street garage for squeezing them in. They also said KAM Servicing was “affordable”.

The reviewer wrote: “Amazing service. Squeezed me in on a busy day after having broken down. Fixed my problem quickly and was very affordable.

“After being messed around by a main dealer it was such a relief to find a good garage that wasn’t just taking advantage of me!”

KAM Servicing is available to service all makes and models of cars, and it also does MOT’s, DPF cleaning, general repairs, and can recharge and regas your air conditioning.

Their website states they offer “the cheapest tyres in town”, and with the small chain, you are also able to spread the cost of your bill over three months.

The words ‘best’ and ‘great’ are commonly used throughout the reviews.One person wrote: “The best around trust me I never thought I find a honest garage guy thankyou boss man and speedy”.

Whilst another happy customer said: “Had an MOT here alongside a few repairs, best price and service compared to other garages.”

The company does not have a website but its opening hours on Google show that they remain open late nights, and close only on Sundays.

Jm Mobile Mechanics has 22 reviews on Google, which gives it a 4.5 star overall rating. The company has only been subject to one one-star review.

One customer, who has a problem with their battery, wrote: “I contacted the gents on Sunday, and they arrived on Monday at 10 am. Really fast fix and very reasonably priced. I would recommend to anyone – thanks again!”
