A teenage boy has been arrested after reports that a group of three people were threatened with an axe in broad daylight.

Nottinghamshire Police and specialist firearms teams were called to an address in Hawkins Close, Harworth at around 1.45pm on Monday May 15.

Officers seized the axe and a 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and affray.

The teenager has since been bailed with conditions while an investigation continues and no-one was injured during the incident, police said.

Inspector Hayley Crawford, District Commander for Bassetlaw, said: “This potentially dangerous situation was quickly dealt with thanks to the joint effort from teams across the force.

“Knives and offensive weapons have utterly devastating consequences so help us keep our streets safe.”
