But one charming village has just been awarded the ultimate bougie accolade by The Telegraph.
Stanton-on-the-Wolds, located about six miles from the city of Nottingham, has been named the "poshest place to live" in Nottinghamshire.
The national newspaper has today released its list of the 'poshest places to live in the UK'.

Stanton-on-the-Wolds is a little village in the Rushcliffe district of Nottinghamshire.


It has a tiny population of just 413 residents according to the 2021 census and is bordered by Clipston-on-the-Wolds, Normanton-on-the-Wolds, Keyworth , and Widmerpool.

Hide AdThe village's name "Stanton" is derived from Old English, meaning a homestead or farmstead by stony ground. "Wolds" refers to the gently rolling hills in the area.
The village is known for its picturesque All Saint's Church, which dates back to the 13th century. Parts of Stanton-on-the-Wolds are also classed as a conservation area.
The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside, making it an ideal location for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, and horse riding.
It is also home to the Stanton on the Wolds Golf Club that was named England Golf Championship Venue of the Year 2019. While the village itself is pretty it is the houses that set this place a cut above the rest. Stanton-on-the-Wolds boasts several listed buildings and historic houses.

Zoopla suggests that number is even higher, reporting the average sold price for a property in Stanton On The Wolds in the last 12 months as £1,700,000.
