As the unofficial food and drink capital of the UK, it’s hardly surprising that Nottingham is bursting with places where you can pick up a tasty coffee.
During September Nottingham World, as part of the National World group, will be shining a light on the city’s brilliant independent businesses during Food and Drink Month.
Such are the number of amazing independent cafes dotted around the city, it can be difficult to know where to start.

Hide AdBut if you’ve got a spare hour and up for trying somewhere a bit different, we think we’ve found just the place.
Those leaving Nottingham Train Station from its Station Street exit will notice a bright yellow building close to the Tesco Express.
This is Hopkinson, a vintage clothing and antiques store which also happens to serve what some regard as the best coffee in Nottingham.
Having seen a few posts about the place on social media, I thought I’d head down and check it out for myself.

Hide AdThe café is located at the front of the shop, beyond which lies all sorts of weird and wonderful artefacts.
The menu not only offers hot drinks but also alcohol, so you have the option of going for something a bit stronger if you’ve had a particularly stressful day.
As my visit fell within work hours, I opted for an Americano, which set me back £3.
I’m by no means a coffee connoisseur, but I could definitely tell why this place is so highly-rated.

Hide AdAfter finishing off my drink, it was time to explore the intriguing shop area spread across a number of floors.
From Pokémon cards and retro cameras to jewellery and even a life-size model of E.T., there were literally thousands of strange items on the shelves.
I think the best way to describe Hopkinson is a car boot sale indoors.
So, if you’re looking for somewhere a bit different to pick up a tasty coffee in Nottingham, look no further than Hopkinson!
