A total of 120 punny businesses are included on the list, with a chip shop and doughnut shop flying the flag for Nottingham.

The Cod’s Scallops, which has three takeaways in the city, and King Street-based Doughnotts are both battling to be crowned the punniest shop in the UK.

The 10-strong East Midlands category also includes businesses such as Sherwood Florist and 10 Dining Street.

Members of the public are being asked to select their regional champion, from which an overall winner will then be decided.
