The Princess Royal made the visit just a day after it was announced King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer

Princess Anne visited a lace knitwear manufacturer in Nottingham earlier this week. The Princess Royal paid a visit to G H Hurt and Son in Chilwell on Tuesday (February 6) during her time in the East Midlands. Since 1912 the company has manufactured a range of luxury shawls and scarves.

The Royal Family has previously used products from G H Hurt, including a shawl to cover Prince Louis after his birth in 2018. During her time in Chilwell, Princess Anne was given a tour of the factory and unveiled a commemorative plaque.

Posting on social media, G H Hurt and Son wrote: "We were honoured to welcome HRH The Princess Royal to G.H.Hurt & Son today, as President of the UK Fashion and Textiles Association.

"HRH met with our amazing staff and was shown how we make our fine lace knitted pieces.

"Towards the end of our factory tour, The Princess Royal unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark her visit, as well as presenting a long service award to Reg’ our Head Mechanic, celebrating 53 years of dedication to the art of lace knitting." The company has a long-standing partnership with Nottingham Trent University and regularly provides placements and graduate jobs to fashion students. The Royal visit also included a stop at the Eastwood Primary Care Centre. The Princess Royal’s visit to Nottingham came just a day after Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King is to undergo treatment for cancer.
