The 1970s were a turbulent time in the UK.
From The Troubles in Northern Ireland to the Winter of Discontent, the whole decade was tarnished by a constant stream of negative news stories.
But depending on your age, the ‘70s could easily be remembered in a positive light.
With pop stars including David Bowie, Marc Bolan and Noddy Holder all in their pomp, the ‘70s was a time when music, fashion and politics all blurred together.
It’s hard to believe the start of the 1970s was nearly five-and-a-half decades ago, particularly if you still have vivid memories of the decade.
As you may have worked out by now, we at Nottingham World love nothing more than taking a trip down memory lane, which is why this week we’re going back to the ‘70s.
We’ve picked out one photo for each year in the decade - each one showing life in Nottingham back then.
So sit back, relax and join us in our time machine as we revisit a time of flares, Slade and feathered haircuts.
