Nottingham is the birthplace and hometown of many successful individuals, from a famous fashion designer and wealthy business people to sports and entertainment stars.

Tony Langley tops the list with a whopping fortune of around $1.7B, while Line Of Duty star Vicky McClure sits at the bottom with £13.65 million.

Tony Langley

Anthony Langley, 68, is the owner of Nottinghamshire-based engineering and manufacturing giant Langley Holdings.

He started the business in 1975, out of the ruins of his grandad’s dissolved business, aged 21.

Langley Holdings employs about 5,400 people, and brings in around $1.5 billion annually.

Tony entered the Forbes Billionaires list in March 2016 and has an estimated fortune of around $1.7B.

He spends his time between his home in Nottinghamshire and a residence in Norfolk.

Paul Smith

Sir Paul Brierley Smith, 76, is a world-renowned fashion designer from Beeston in Nottingham.

He left school aged 15 to work in a Nottingham clothing warehouse before being inspired to enter the world of fashion.

Paul opened his own shop called Paul Smith Vêtements Pour Homme in the heart of Nottingham in 1970 and began selling established clothing labels and his own designs.

The company, which started in a small 3 x 3-metre shop, is now among the top fashion brands in the world and has expanded into over 70 countries.

The business, still based in Nottingham, turns over millions every year.

Paul was awarded the Honorary Freedom of the City of Nottingham in February 1996 and received a knighthood in 2000.

His net worth is estimated to be around £390 million, according to celebrity net worth.

Harry Djanogly

Djanogly is a name that is synonymous with many venues and buildings throughout the city of Nottingham, indicating the family’s contributions to the city.

Sir Harry Djanogly, 84, fled Nazi Germany with his family in 1935 and settled in Nottingham.

He became a clothing manufacturer and set up Nottingham Manufacturing Company, which produced knitwear, hosiery and other textiles.

In 1986 he merged his company to form Coats Viyella, which is now the world’s leading thread manufacturer.

Harry Djanogly was awarded a CBE in 1983 and knighted in 1993.

He is estimated to be worth around £300 million.

Nat Puri

Nat Puri, 83, is known as being one of Nottingham’s most successful businessmen and arrived in the city from India at the age of 26 with just a degree in maths.

His first job was for Nottingham building services company FG Skerritt, and he later founded Purico Group.

The Nottingham-based company is involved in paper, plastics, IT, engineering, real estate and hospitality and makes annual revenues of around $650 million.

In 2007, he and his family were named in the top 20 of the Asian rich list.

He has an estimated net worth of around £130 million.

Judy Naake

Judith Naake is a businesswoman from Nottingham, best known for turning the self-tanning brand St Tropez into a multi million-pound business.

Judy started a career in sales, working for her father’s businesses in florist and hardware shops before managing a health club.

Prior to her success with St Tropez, she was already working in the health and beauty industry selling skincare products.

She sold St Tropez to Lloyds Capital after being diagnosed with breast cancer twice.

Judy is the former high sheriff of Nottingham and received an MBE in 2018 for services to entrepreneurship, the community and philanthropy.

She is estimated to be worth £30 million and still spends her time between her Nottingham home and a property in London.

Carl Froch

The four-time super-middleweight world champion boxer runs a property company and opened a glamorous rooftop bar named Alto in his hometown in 2018 - although the bar has since closed.

Froch’s net worth is believed to be around £ 20 million.

Vicky McClure, 39, from Wollaton, is an English actress, model and presenter best known for her roles as Detective Inspector Kate Fleming in the BBC series Line of Duty and Lol Jenkins in Shane Meadows’ film This Is England.

The Line Of Duty star is said to be worth a whopping £13.65 million.
