10 Things I Hate About You tops list as Nottingham's favourite romantic comedy

As Valentine's Day approaches many of us are thinking about snuggling up on the sofa with a good old romantic comedy.

Whether you're planning to watch it alone, with your best friends, boyfriend, or cat, nothing beats the feel-good factor of watching a romance unfold on the screen before you.

So picture the scene, you're sofa-bound, snacks aplenty and there's a bottle of wine cracked open - but what's on the screen?

Well according to some recent data, rom-com lovers in Nottingham prefer a bad boy. With 10 Things I Hate About You ranking as the city's top romantic comedy.

Online casino comparison service KingCasinoBonus.uk used Google’s Keyword Planner to find the number of monthly Google searches for 180 romantic comedies, which were paired with search terms such as ‘watch [movie name]’ or ‘how to watch [movie name]’ to find the UK’s favourites.

In first place - for Nottingham and the UK - is the 1999 classic, 10 Things I Hate About You.

The movie, which has gained cult status in recent years thanks to its iconic soundtrack and storyline inspired by Shakespeare’s ‘Taming of the Shrew,’ was the resounding favourite, receiving 73,423 searches per month on average.

The story follows high-schooler Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who falls in love with classmate Bianca but is forbidden from dating her until her strong-willed older sister, Kat (Julia Stiles), also finds a boyfriend.

In an attempt to speed the process up, Cameron pays high school bad boy Patrick (Heath Ledger) to date Kat in a bid to see Bianca, yielding some interesting results.
