Colombo Street: Award-winning Nottingham restaurant to close due to ‘financial difficulties’
The restaurant will close within days
An award-winning Nottingham city centre restaurant is to close at the end of the month due to “current market conditions” and “financial difficulties”.

Sri Lankan restaurant Colombo Street, in Adam’s Walk, near Fletcher Gate, will close on July 31 after less than three years in operation.
In 2023 Colombo Street was named Sri Lankan Restaurant of the Year at the National Asian Food Awards.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the restaurant’s management said the decision was made “with a heavy heart”.
The statement said: “With a heavy heart, we have had to make a very difficult decision to close our Nottingham restaurant due to the current market conditions in the Nottingham City Centre and financial difficulties we are facing.
“We have experienced many successes and faced various ups and downs along the way, since the restaurant opened in October 2021.
“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have served our wonderful customers who also became our friends over the years.”
Despite the restaurant’s closure, the business’s two food trucks will continue as normal.
The statement added: “This is not the end of Colombo Street – we will be taking some time to regroup and do what we love doing, bringing the ultimate Sri Lankan flavours to the streets of the UK.”
