Via Fossa has been closed for more than a month

The future of a once-popular Nottingham city centre pub remains unclear more than one month after its closure.

Greene King-run Via Fossa, in Canal Street, closed its doors for the final time on October 19 after the chain confirmed plans to shut the pub.

At the time, a spokesperson for Greene King said: “We have made the difficult decision to close Via Fossa on the 19th of October.

“We appreciate this is difficult news to our loyal customers and we would like to thank each of them who have enjoyed visiting over the years.

“We are working closely with our team at Via Fossa to find alternative employment in our pubs across Nottingham, where possible.

Located in a former warehouse, Via Fossa was known for its views of the Nottingham Canal.

When Nottingham World visited the pub earlier this month, much of the building’s exterior had been covered with metal sheeting.

Signs to the front and rear of the pub could be seen advertising its availability.

Greene King runs more than 70 pubs across Nottingham and the surrounding suburbs, including the Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Bell Inn and Grosvenor.
