Nottingham is bracing for thunderstorms today (Thursday, August 1), with the city currently under a yellow Met Office warning.
Days of warm weather are set to come to an abrupt end as thunderstorms bring the potential of disruption.

Hide AdThe city’s yellow warning will expire at 11.59pm tonight, before dry conditions resume tomorrow.
The warning says: “Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.”

According to BBC Weather, there is a four-hour window when thunderstorms could hit Nottingham during late afternoon and early evening.

Hide AdThe nature of thunderstorms makes it hard for forecasters to pinpoint exactly where and when they may occur, but BBC Weather predicts ‘thundery showers and light winds’ in Nottingham between 4pm and 8pm.
By 9pm the risk of thunderstorms will disappear, with ‘partly cloudy and light winds’ returning overnight.
