King Charles has been Britain’s monarch since the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September last year.
The royal, 74, ascended to the throne immediately following the death of Her Majesty at the age of 96, with Buckingham Palace announcing that there will be a series of planned events to celebrate his Coronation on Saturday 6 May.
He will wear St Edward’s Crown, which was made in 1661 for the coronation of King Charles II, during the televised traditional event at Westminster Abbey.
Community events are being planned for everyone across the country to celebrate the crowning of King Charles throughout the bank holiday weekend.
Back in 2004, the then Prince of Wales unveiled a plaque commemorating the opening of the Emergency Department at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. He was all smiles when he came to the city again in 2009 for a visit to the kitchens of the City Hospital.
