Christmas is just weeks away and many of us are starting to think about putting up our decorations (no, it isn't too early!)

Of course, the first place to start when you want to 'Christmasfy' your home is with the tree - and in our opinion, you just can't beat a real one.

But some shocking stats released by Betway this morning have revealed that Nottingham is the most expensive place in the UK to purchase a real 6ft Christmas tree. Even beating the likes of Edinburgh and London!

According to the data, the average price of a real Christmas tree here in Nottingham is a whopping £63.50...

Things don't get much better down the road in Derby either, with the city ranking as the third priciest place in the country. The average cost of a tree in Derby is £61.00.

According to the study, Stoke-on-Trent has been crowned as the most affordable city to purchase a real Christmas tree. People living in the city can expect to pay an average of £45.60 for their Nordmann Fir this year.

So although real Christmas trees can cost up to 254% less than an artificial one, over a 10-year period Brits can save £348.65 with a fake tree.

Most expensive:

1. Nottingham - £63.50

2. Edinburgh - £63.00

3. Derby - £61.00

4. London - £60.60

5. Southampton - £60.33

Least expensive:

1. Stoke-on-Trent- £45.60

2. Kingston upon Hull - £45.97

3. Blackpool - £46.00

4. Belfast - £46.17

5. Plymouth - £46.75
