It’s the perfect place for a stroll over the Easter bank holiday

We’re now approaching the fourth week of April, which means that spring is in full swing.

With winter now well and truly behind us, spring presents the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the warm(er) weather.

Here in Nottingham we’re lucky to have so many amazing green spaces to enjoy over the spring, and with the Easter bank holiday just around the corner it’s time to get your walking boots on.

Spring is quite rightly associated with vibrant colours, from the yellow of daffodils to the deep purple of crocuses.

Another seasonal favourite is, of course, cherry blossom.

Commonly found in East Asia, particularly Japan, the popularity of cherry blossom on these shores has soared over recent decades.

At this time of year, Nottingham’s parks and open spaces come alive with the white and pink of cherry blossom.

There are plenty of beauty spots to choose from, but we think one stands out more than the rest.

Highfields Park

With exotic plants and even a waterfall, Highfields Park offers a similar vibe to the Arboretum.

Often confused with the University Park because of its close proximity to Nottingham University Campus, the 21-hectare site is a must-visit for those living in the west of the city.

One of its best-loved features is the large lake, which acts as a centrepiece of the park.

At this time of year, the walkways of Highfields Park are overhung by dozens of cherry blossom trees.

The park’s cherry blossom trees combined with its waterfall creates a unique Japanese vibe that you’d struggle to discover elsewhere in the city.

So, if you’re looking for somewhere to relax and unwind this spring, Highfields Park is the place to go.
