There’s no denying that Nottinghamshire is a beautiful part of England, but it’s fair to say that other areas across the country are equally as picturesque.
Nottinghamshire’s location in the middle of the country makes it an ideal base to explore some of the other beauty spots that our great nation has to offer.
For instance, within two-and-a-half hours you can reach the border with Wales, while the East Anglian coast is a three-and-a-half hour drive.
Head north and you’ll of course reach many stunning areas of natural beauty including the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.
But we think the pick of the bunch is Northumberland, which borders Scotland.
Reaching Northumberland from the Midlands is easy - simply follow the A1 for just over three hours and you’ll be there.
With so much to offer, including Alnwick Castle and Hadrian’s Wall, we’ve picked 15 amazing attractions in Northumberland that you can visit in a day and back from the East Midlands.
