Describing the gardens at Calke Abbey, The Times said: “The gardens at Calke Abbey are full of colour and scent at the moment, attracting many species of butterflies.
“In the physic garden, fruits and vegetables take over the beds in July with a colourful harvest, much of which is available to take home, while the fragrant sweet pea arch makes a beautiful display in June and July.
“Wander through the flower garden to see a show of historic cultivars of pelargoniums and bright summer bedding, with surrounding borders full of roses and herbaceous plants.

“There are four holiday cottages dotted across the estate should you wish to extend your visit, each with miles of parkland walks just a step from the front door.”
The gardens are open daily between 9.30am and 5pm.
Entry to the gardens is priced at £8 for adults and £4 for children.
