It’s hard to believe but we’re more than a quarter of the way through the year already.
Over the past couple of weeks we’ve been blessed with temperatures of up to 20C here in Nottinghamshire, which certainly isn’t always the case over the Easter holidays.
The fine weather inevitably means that thousands of families across the county will be heading out and about over the next couple of weeks.
As a result, many of Nottinghamshire’s most popular attractions are likely to be far busier than normal.
If crowds aren’t your thing, don’t worry, because we’ve put together a list of nine lesser-known Nottinghamshire villages that you should definitely consider visiting.

1. Bunny
With a suitably Easter-themed name, the quaint village of Bunny is well worth a visit over the spring. Bunny Old Wood in particular comes alive at this time of year with seasonal flowers and more than 50 bird species. | Russ Hamer Photo: Russ Hamer

2. Cropwell Bishop
Famous for the production of high-quality stilton cheese, the village of Cropwell Bishop is found a few miles south-east of Nottingham, near Cotgrave. The quaint nearby villages of Cropwell Butler and Colston Bassett are easily walkable. | Alan Murray-Rust Photo: Alan Murray-Rust

3. Burton Joyce
Located just beyond the banks of the River Trent, the village of Burton Joyce is a great place to go for an autumn gander. The village itself is home to three pubs and a fish and chip shop, so you won't be short for places to relax after taking in the seasonal beauty. | Chris Morgan Photo: Chris Morgan

4. Gotham
World-renowned for its links to Batman, Gotham, just south of Clifton, boasts three pubs. The Gotham Heritage trail is a circular 2.7-mile walk taking in the best of the village surrounding countryside. | John Sutton Photo: John Sutton
