Charming and historic oasis crowned Nottingham's best picnic spot by The Telegraph

This park takes the top spot in The Telegraph's best picnic locations, thanks to its historic windmill, science exhibits, and family-friendly vibe.

Green’s Mill Park in Sneinton has officially been crowned Nottingham’s best picnic spot, and locals aren’t surprised.

With its charming 19th-century working windmill, science exhibits, and family-friendly vibe, the park has become a top destination for sunny-day escapes. The Telegraph named the spot Nottingham’s best in its round-up of the best place to picnic in every major UK city (including London).

Originally built by the father of famed mathematician George Green, the restored mill is now a hub of activity - grinding award-winning organic flour and hosting hands-on exhibits on light, magnetism, and more.

The adjacent playground and regular bread- and biscuit-making workshops make it a hit with kids.

Each July, the park hosts its popular “Picnic in the Park” festival, blending live music, games, and community cheer.

With no café on site, savvy picnickers opt for gourmet hampers from Delilah Fine Foods - smoked salmon and mascarpone sandwiches, anyone?

The Telegraph said: “This compact park and playground bags a spot thanks to its restored 19th-century working mill built by the father of mathematician George Green.

“Free to enter (Wed–Sun 10am–4pm), it’s packed with kid-friendly distractions: from hands-on science exhibits exploring light and magnetism, to watching them grind the award-winning organic flour and regular bread and biscuit-making workshops.

“Each July, its “Picnic in the Park” festival brings music and games. There’s no café, so pick up a preordered gourmet picnic hamper (think smoked salmon-and-mascarpone sandwiches) from Delilah Fine Foods. “
