The restaurant, which only opened last December, served a range of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes as well as Sunday roasts.

In a Facebook post, The Chapel’s management said: “This has been an incredibly difficult decision for us, and one that’s taken a lot of thought and reflection.

“The Chapel has meant so much to us and we know it’s meant a lot to many of you too.

“We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over these past months. Your loyalty, love and energy have been everything.

“And while The Chapel may be closing, this isn’t the end. Keep your eyes on our socials - something new might just be rising from the ashes very soon.

“We’re not going down without a fight.”

Located in a former Methodist chapel, the restaurant attracted many positive reviews over the past four months.

One recent visitor, who left a five-star Google review, said: “Visited today for the first time and had brunch with friends.

“Very impressed with the décor, the staff were great and the food was excellent.”
