Great Taste Awards 2024: 'Simply delicious' Nottingham sauce wins award - and it's perfect for pizza

A ‘simply delicious’ Nottingham-created sauce has won a coveted Great Taste Award.

The Sauce Shop has now won 39 Great Taste Stars since 2016.

This year, the British brand, based in Nottingham, has been applauded for its spicy, zesty, and ‘perfect with pizza’ Chipotle and Lime Aioli.

The spicy, smoky mayo with a serious hit of garlic and citrus tang from lime, was a smash hit with Great Taste judges, who awarded it a Great Taste 1-Star, reserved for food that delivers fantastic flavour.

This flavourful sauce is most at home drizzled over tacos, as a dip for pizza crusts or slathered over a sandwich. Not only is it extremely garlicky but it’s packed with plenty of chipotle (smoked dried jalapeno peppers), lime and cumin to make this creamy mayo a dream dip. 

Chipotle and Lime Aioli was put through Great Taste’s rigorous blind judging process and received some outstanding feedback from judges, who described it as: “a creamy, glossy mayonnaise with spice on the nose”.

Judges also commented on the “well-crafted” condiment’s “velvety texture’ and “balance of spice and warmth”.

All products in the line-up for judging are blind tasted: every product is removed from its packaging so it cannot be identified, before entering a robust, layered judging process.
