But today, we're talking about the humble pub pie.

A staple in British pub grub, the pie can be enjoyed either with heaps of mash and lashings of gravy or with thick-cut chips and HP Sauce.
Unsurprisingly, in a city that is renowned for its nightlife and culinary scene, there are more than a few options when it comes to savouring the perfect pub pie.
But today's offering is a pretty country pub, about half an hour from the city, that is celebrated for its pies.

Piedeal pub lunch
The Fox and Hounds (F&H) is a cosy country pub located in Blidworth Bottoms just outside of Nottingham.
The cute pub is well-regarded by locals and is known as "the place for pies".
Menu options include faultless favourites like steak and ale or creamy chicken with leek and bacon but it's the pub's 'legendary' steak and stilton offering that put it on the map.
There is also a daily vegan pie of the day.

Or if you're not a fan of pastry (sorry we can't be friends), there is the much-lauded option of the F&H cottage pie which is topped with mash and cheddar.
MoCo07 said on TripAdvisor that it was: "Quite honestly, the best pie I have ever tasted."

A pun for hearty appetites
The pub itself is very sweet with picnic benches outside for sunny afternoons spent with a pint and a cosy interior that's ideal for hunkering down with friends.

Hide AdThe Fox and Hounds is run by Diane and David Cole, who describe it as a "contemporary version of a traditional English country pub with home-cooked British food, real ales and excellent wine."
David and Diane took over the Fox and Hounds in 2001 but the pub has a long history before that which dates back to the 1800s.
It is said the Fox and Hounds Beer House was originally close nearby in a nail maker's shop before moving to the current larger premises.
A spokesperson for Nottingham CAMRA said: "Diane and David Cole have been at the helm of the Fox and Hounds for the last ten years and obviously know what running a pub is all about. A visit there is heartily recommended and bring a hearty appetite too!"
