The Long Eaton café that serves a gut-busting breakfast baguette that's only ever been finished twice

The 20-inch baguette contains five burgers, five sausages, five rashers of bacon, five black pudding and five eggs - and that’s without mentioning the side dishes!

We’re all guilty of overindulging at this time of year, but if you fancy taking up competitive eating in the New Year there’s a place just outside Nottingham that should be right at the top of your list of places to try.

But be warned, if you’re not a fan of 20-inch baguettes filled with food that would make a dietician’s skin crawl, look away now.

The menu at Long Eaton’s Garden Cafe contains a dish so big that you can’t just walk in and order it.

Those brave enough to take on the cafe’s 20-inch breakfast baguette challenge have to let staff know days in advance, giving them enough time to source ingredients for the mammoth creation.

The huge baguette contains five burgers, five sausages, five rashers of bacon, five black pudding and five eggs.

Oh, and that’s without mentioning the portion of chips and two bowls of baked beans that participants will also have to devour to complete the challenge.

So far, only two out of 20 competitors have taken on the challenge and won.

Earlier this year popular YouTubers BeardMeetsFood and Leah Shutkever both devoured the baguette.

Other participants were finding the challenge so difficult that the time limit was extended from 30 minutes to 45 minutes.

At just £25, the baguette represents exceptional value - and those who complete it don’t have to pay.

Cafe owner Sean Tams told Nottingham World how the challenge first came about: “My mate said that we should do a food challenge and I thought ‘how can you do a food challenge from a breakfast?’

“My little lad told me to watch BeardMeetsFood and there were videos of him taking on massive breakfasts, so I thought that we had to do something better.

“So we put a plan together, went to Asda and bought the biggest baguette they had!”

If you’re up for trying the infamous 20-inch breakfast baguette challenge, the Garden Cafe reopens after a Christmas break on Monday, January 8.
