Cobden Chambers: The quirky shopping spot hidden in the heart of the city centre
We think Nottingham is a great place for shopping.
The Victoria Centre and the city’s high street are home to some huge name brands including House of Fraser, John Lewis, Superdry, and Levi’s.
But sometimes, you’re searching for something a little bit more unique.

Hide AdCobden Chambers opened in 2013 after being left in a state of disuse for 20 years.
It has a fascinating history; in the 1800s it was used as a photographer’s studio, as a base for the Nottingham Society of Artists between 1895-1912 and it was even the registered office for Notts County Football Club in 1890.
In the 1970s it was the editing house of Platform, a monthly arts magazine for the Midlands.
It took 7 months of hard graft to restore the Chambers into working order, transforming it into the pretty, unique and artsy space it is today.

Rens Jonker wrote on Google reviews: “A nice and cosy side-alley that feels like you're miles away from the busy city centre while it's actually ten metres away.
“Houses a jewellery store, vinyl store, small bookshop (with books about big ideas) and a co-working space that serves great food. Add a passive-aggressive llama on top of that and you've earned your five stars.”
Hayley Smith said: “I love the atmosphere, the smell, the food, the staff, the way everything is set out. Just love it here, so quirky, definitely be coming back! So welcoming.”
Grace Mock described it as: “Full of character, a little pocket of sunshine. Quiet little cafe, perfect for a cup of tea and a slice of cake.”
