We might not have even passed Halloween yet, but if you’re a bit too old for trick or treating then you’ll probably be looking forward to Bonfire Night instead.
The annual November 5 event marks the anniversary of the failed Gunpowder Plot in 1605 when Guy Fawkes and fellow plotters attempted to blow up the Palace of Westminster using 36 barrels of gunpowder.
They hoped to spark a Catholic uprising by destroying parliament and killing King James I.
In the centuries since, November 5 has been used as a day to celebrate Fawkes’ failed plot through firework displays and bonfires.
Once again, Nottingham and the surrounding towns and villages are set to host some cracking Bonfire Night displays this year.
Some events, such as the Disney in the Dark display at Nottingham Racecourse, have now sold out.
However, there are still plenty of other spectacular displays where you can still buy tickets!
Below are six of the best events taking place across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire in early November.
