The 2025 University League Tables have been released - here’s how the East Midlands compares to the rest of the UK

Exam season is upon us and thousands of sixth-formers are busy preparing for their A-levels.

Many are working towards a place at university, to study for an undergraduate degree.

There are more than 160 universities in the UK, each offering a unique experience to its students.

Many institutions are highly competitive and teens won’t know if they have secured a place until A-level Results Day in August.

According to WhatUni, the East Midlands is home to nine universities offering 120 undergraduate courses.

They are the University of Nottingham, Loughborough University, Nottingham Trent University, University of Derby, De Montfort University, University of Northampton, Bishop Grosseteste University, University of Leicester, and the University of Lincoln.

The Good University Guide has released the 2025 League Tables today with Cambridge retaining the top spot in the UK.

According to the expert guide, here are the top five universities in the East Midlands.

Nottingham Trent University has been named in the guide as one of the top ‘new universities’ in the UK.

These are the schools that were established post-1992. It joins the likes of Oxford Brookes, Ulster, and the University of Arts in London.
