Red Roofs residential care home hosts day at the races as part of their 40th Anniversary
Red Roofs residential care home marked a significant milestone as it began celebrating its upcoming 40th anniversary with a vibrant "Day at the Races" event on Saturday, 23rd August.
The care home, which will officially reach its ruby anniversary on 8th December 2025, brought together residents, families, staff, and former employees for an unforgettable celebration.
The event transformed the care home grounds into a miniature Ascot, with guests embracing the racing theme in full regalia. Vocalist Jules provided the soundtrack with classics that had residents, staff and families joining hands to dance together in the garden, creating the intergenerational celebration that perfectly embodied Red Roofs' community spirit.
The day featured an array of engaging activities, including traditional guessing games and a stocked tombola with numerous raffle prizes for lucky winners. Guests were treated to delicious appetisers and desserts prepared by the care home's talented kitchen staff, adding another special touch to the festivities.

Resident Pearl Allison commented, "I've enjoyed everything about today – the food, the dancing, the music. I love being here – it's just like a family to me."
The celebration held special significance with the attendance of founder and owner Margaret Daniel, who opened Red Roofs alongside her late husband, Michael Daniel, in December 1985. Mrs Daniel shared touching memories of the home's early days and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who have contributed to the Red Roofs community over four decades.
General Manager Trish Smith, who has been with Red Roofs for 36 years, reflected on the home's journey and impact: "Since Margaret and Michael Daniel opened Red Roofs, they empowered their team to make a difference and improve people's quality of life. I'm super proud of my team here – they're hardworking and dedicated. Without them, Red Roofs wouldn't be the success it is today."
The Day at the Races event marks the beginning of Red Roofs' 40th anniversary celebrations, with the official milestone date falling on 8th December 2025. The care home continues to serve the Newark community with the same dedication to excellence and family-centred care that has been its hallmark since 1985, creating a warm environment where residents can thrive and families can feel confident in their loved ones' well-being.
