From renting to rooted: Inside this family’s journey to their first home in Nottinghamshire
Previously renting a two bedroom property in Leicester, Jeveen Jacob (37) and Jincy Solomon (34) were looking for more space and a quiet location to raise their daughter Jenny (7).
Their search was shorter than expected – after hearing about a friend’s positive experience with the housebuilder – they visited The Skylarks and secured their new home on the very first viewing.

Our old rent was £1,100 a month for a smaller property, and while our mortgage is slightly higher, the value we get – in terms of space and ownership – is worth every penny.”

Jeveen added: “We were originally drawn to the property because it offered much more space than our rented home. It even included a separate study, which was ideal for me as I work mostly from home – I didn’t have to convert a bedroom or work from the living room.”
Not only have Jeveen and Jincy secured more space but another major benefit for them has been the energy efficiency of their new property.

Hide AdJincy said: “We’ve seen a big drop in our energy bills – we used to pay over £600 for electricity and up to £1,000 for gas annually. Now, with the home’s B energy rating, our bills are less than half of what we used to pay.
